Madonna was born and raised in Michigan but knew her futurewasn’t in Bay City, which is what led her to New York City to pursue a careerin modern dance in the late 1970s. She spent several years working as adrummer, guitarist, and vocalist before she signed with Sire Records in 1982and released her debut album. She garnered widespread fame with her subsequentalbums—Like a Virgin (1984) and True Blue (1986). She earnedGrammy Awards for Ray of Light (1998) and Confessions on a DanceFloor (2005), which sealed her fate in the industry as the Queen of Pop.

Amid her impressive career belting out hit singles like“Take a Bow” and “Like a Virgin,” Madonna also ventured into acting in themid-1980s. She appeared in Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), DickTracy (1990), A League of Their Own (1992), and Evita (1996),the latter of which earned Madonna a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.Beyond acting, she also proved her talents as a businesswoman with the launchof her entertainment company—Maverick—as well as ventures into fashion design, children’s books, health clubs, and filmmaking.

Today, the 61-year-old continues to balance her busy career and projects like the Madame X Tour with her role as a mom to six children. Motherhood takes top-billing for Madonna who is now ranked as the best-selling female recording artist of all time and one of the most influential women in the spotlight today. These honors haven’t always come easy, but Madonna certainly has the accolades and fortune to prove it with a net worth of $800 million and climbing. Of course, she uses most of her fortune to provide for her children. For Madonna, that included splurging on a BMW 7-series, a luxury BMW sedan that set the Queen of Pop back around $86,000! While it doesn’t have enough room for all six children, it certainly provides enough luxury for Madonna to comfortably haul her youngest kids around town in style!

2002 BMW 7 Series Specs

The BMW 7 Series is a full-size luxury sedan that BMW first debuted in 1977 as the successor to the BMW E3 New Six sedan. Now in its sixth generation, the 7 Series is BMW’s flagship car and, over the last 43 years has offered outstanding features and amenities to make it one of BMW’s best-selling models. The first generation 7 Series was produced from 1977 to 1987 as a four-door sedan with a six-cylinder engine; a turbocharged six-cylinder engine was available from 1983 to 1987. This generation introduced new technology from BMW including the on-board computer, warning lights, complex climate control, anti-lock brakes, a driver-side airbag, and double-link front suspension.

The second generation was produced from 1986 to 1994 and was available in a V6 or V12 engine before BMW made the V8 engine available in 1992. The sedan was the first to adhere to BMW’s self-imposed speed limit of 155 miles per hour and included new features like Xenon headlamps and traction control. The third generation was produced from 1994 to 2004, boasting a longer wheelbase and a V6, V8, or V12 engine. This marked the first 7 Series available with a diesel engine. It was also the first European car to offer satellite navigation and the first BMW to offer a built-in television.

Madonna’s 2002 BMW was a fourthgeneration produced between 2001 and 2008. The 7 Series was powered by a4.4-liter V8 engine capable of pushing it from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.3seconds. Like the previous models, the 2002 7 Series included a self-imposedspeed limit of 155 miles per hour. Madonna’s upgrades to the model includedsatellite navigation, anti-roll bars, Nappa leather seats, and a built-intelevision. While the amenities were nice, the fuel economy was modest with 22miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway.

The fifth generation 7 Series was produced from 2008 to 2015 and included many upgrades like a turbocharged V12 engine and all-wheel drive. The sixth generation debuted in 2015 and is still in production today. It offers two models—a shorter and longer wheelbase. It also features the new OKL platform rich in technology as well as hybrid options, which was set to push BMW sales even higher. However, the hybrid powered 7 Series hasn’t performed like BMW hoped with only one sale in 2016 compared to 9,276 standard BMW 7 Series sold in 2017. BMW produced over 64,000 models, which means there are over 55,000 models unsold! Since Madonna sold her 7 Series a few years ago, maybe she can snatch a newer model at a great price!
