There are always going to be arguments about who the greatest basketball player to ever play in the NBA is, but there are already many that say it’s LeBron James. In 2003, James was drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers out of high school, and has a ton of awards to his name. James has also played for the Miami Heat, and he’s won three NBA Finals Championships to go along with his 13 All Star appearances. James’s large contracts and massive shoe deal with Nike have made him incredibly rich, as well, allowing him to afford some of the finer things in life, including cars.

Since James is one of those massively tall professional basketball players, he needs a luxury vehicle that also offers a lot of headroom. The Dawn Drophead allows James to not even worry about bumping his head on a ceiling while he’s cruising around. Rolls Royce says that it takes just 20 seconds for the roof to get in and out of position. This makes sure that all of the attention is on the driver, even though all eyes were on anyone that owns a Dawn Drophead to begin with!

The Dawn Drophead features a luxury interior covered in leather with only the finest hand stitching, and Rolls Royce likes to brag about how quiet it is inside when you have the roof on. That’s because the Dawn Drophead features a 6.6 liter V12 engine, so that the four people within can all hear each other talking. Most celebrities that we’ve seen usually only have two seat vehicles, but the Dawn Drophead features seating for four people very comfortably with its top of the line seating.

There are more than 40,000 different color varieties that you can choose with the Dawn Drophead between the exterior and interior, and James went with the all-black look on the outside with lighter colored seats. James showcased his new car in June 2017 while driving through the streets of Los Angeles, turning heads along the way. Many were wondering how much the Dawn Drophead set James back, and the cost might not be as high as you think.

The Dawn Drophead has a starting price of $340,000, which is only a small dent for the legendary player that’s estimated to be worth around half a billion dollars. With his massive net worth, it’s believed that James was willing to pay several thousand more to add some unique features. To get the exact price, you have to get in touch with Rolls Royce directly, and even then it’s likely you’ll never hear back. Many of the vehicles that are for sale are above $400,000 at dealerships and have under 100 miles driven on them.

One of the more expensive ones that was for sale that looked like James’s featured similar colors and was selling for $360,000, but didn’t have as many features. There are some models that are a bit cheaper available, though they can be up to two years old. Rolls Royce started making the Dawn Drophead in 2015, debuting their luxury car at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It’s certainly not a small vehicle, as the Dawn Drophead has a curb weight of more than 5,600 pounds.

James has always been known for having impressive speed at his large size, so he wanted a vehicle that was just like him in that regard. He certainly got the right choice in the form of the Dawn Drophead, which can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 4.3 seconds thanks to the 563 horsepower engine. The top speed isn’t among the highest performing at 155 miles per hour, but that’s because a governor prevents the Dawn Drophead from going any faster.

Obviously fuel efficiency isn’t a big concern when you’re driving a vehicle like the Dawn Drophead, which receives around 12 miles per gallon in the city and about 19 miles per gallon on the highway. Since it’s an eight-speed automatic transmission, it gets a couple of miles per gallon less than a manual transmission would. At nearly 22 gallons in the tank, the Dawn Drophead can cruise around the highway at the posted speed limit for more than 400 miles.

The Dawn Drophead also features a four-wheel anti-lock brake system with massive tires on both the front and rear. The front wheels are 20 x 8.5 inches, while the rear has 20 x 9.5 inch wheels. Of course, you’re not going to be going to a used tire store for a car of this class, so it can be a bit expensive and difficult to find new ones for the Dawn Drophead. Not that you’d expect anything less from Rolls Royce.

James has quite the impressive car collection as it is, and the Dawn Drophead was just the latest addition to the fleet. With homes in Ohio, Miami and Los Angeles, James has plenty of garage room to keep his fancy cars. We’ve seen the basketball superstar driving around Lamborghinis, Porsches, Hummers and even Ferraris so far, just to name a few. In terms of production, the Dawn Drophead is the newest as a 2017 model.

James has some nice luxuries at his disposal inside of the Dawn Drophead, which features 16 speakers with a theater sound setting. The radio system is so advanced that it can change tones depending on what noises are being made outside of the vehicle so that the driver can better hear. You’ll also find the standard fare you see in newer cars such as the capability to stream over the phone and voice activation, with a pair of LCD monitors for James to operate what he wants to hear.

With rumors that James will be heading to Los Angeles after his days in Cleveland are over, expect to see him driving around the Dawn Drophead a little more in the future. Even if he decides to sell the vehicle, knowing that LeBron James himself was driving it around could up the resale value. Whether James brings the rest of his vehicles to Los Angeles is yet to be seen, but with his massive earning potential, he can start a whole new fleet on the west coast.
