#2 – Mazda 6
The Mazda 6 is one of the slowest cars to depreciate and is a reliable mid-size family car that exhibits Mazda’s design philosophy of “stylish, insightful, and spirited.” First released in 2002, the Mazda 6 is now in its third generation and is still one of the manufacturer’s best sellers despite over 280,000 Mazda 6 models facing a series of recalls between 2003 and 2008, and again from 2008 to 2016, due to faulty airbags. Fortunately, this hasn’t hurt Mazda sales with the Mazda 6 one of the most affordable family cars on the market at $21,511.
Despite the faulty airbags and second round of recalls, the Mazda 6 holds its value with a depreciation rate of only 13.1%, which brings the model’s value down to $18,693 after its first year on the road. It’s one of the easiest cars to trade-in and resell with Mazda 6 models with low mileage and in good condition going for anywhere between $8,000 and $14,000, which makes it a great car for commuters looking for a more affordable alternative to drive around town!
